Which HS is the King Farm development in Rockville/Gaithersburg? Is it a decent school system?

I know Rockville and Gaithersburg border one another and I believe King Farm is both?

Which schools does the King Farm development feed into? Are they decent schools?

Part of King Farm definitely feeds to Gaithersburg High, and that's not the greatest school in the system. I'm not sure where the southern part feeds to.

I think some go to Richard Montgomery, but I'm not entirely sure.

21:35 here. That was my guess too. I checked one address a couple of years ago when looking for a home, and it was zoned for Gaithersburg. But I knew the neighborhood was split somehow.

Hi

The line is Redland Boulevard. Those that live in the Watkins Pond section (the older part) are zoned for Richard Montgomery. Those on the newer side are zoned for Gaithersburg High.

Hi, we are actually prefer newer homes (<10 years old). I know Gaithersburg has a lot of new construction. I've seen some beautiful houses online.

Can you recommend neighborhoods in Gaithersburg that feed into Richard Montgomery or other good high school system?

Quince Orchard is a good school. You could try Kentlands and Lakelands (the newer homes). Not sure which high school they feed to (but I think some/most go to Quince Orchard).

Kentlands and Lakelands all feed into QO. Most desirable though seem to be the neighborhoods in North Potomac that feed into Wooton.

Not that poster asking about new construction, but there's nothing like Kentlands/Lakelands in North Potomac, is there? I mean, I'm in Stonebridge and really like it, but it's a lot older than the newer planned communities.

Kentlands isn't exactly new anymore. Isn't it about 25 years old now? King Farm is much newer, even the "old" parts.

Don't know if there are any other planned communities like that. Maybe Fallsgrove? But I'm not sure if that's truly a planned community or not (or even if it's that new).

My cousin bought in the King Farm development after the real estate agent showed him the stats for Richard Montgomery, thus *implying* but not actually stating that he would be buying in the part of the development that feeds into the desirable Richard Montgomery HS. A few months after he bought, he learned that he's actually in the part that feeds into the less desirable Gaithersburg HS. Now he thinks he wants to move into the part that feeds into Richard Montgomery. That real estate agent, if not innocently mistaken (and I don't believe she was) was very sly.

Moral: If you buy in King Farm, do your own due diligence about the school cluster.

How old are his kids? If they are still quite young and he loves his house, I'd probably stay put. I think Gaithersburg high will only get better, but it's going to take about 10 years or so.

I live in King Farm on the gaithersburg side. And my son will go to Gaithersburg High school and I am not happy about it.

Redland is the dividing line and they go to Richard Montgomery - as does the fallsgrove area.

College Gardents, Julius West and RM are the preferered side of King Farm.

Just curious - what elementary and middle are the schools for the gaithersburg side of King Farm?
