Do boys wear tuxedos or suits to prom?

Crowd-sourcing what mcps boys wear to prom these days. Son says nobody wears tuxedos anymore, and he wants something that pops.

If prom is semiformal a suit is fine
He really is old enough to pick out his own clothes. My son wore a suit, three friends he went with wore tuxedos. I think the suit/sport coat kids looked better dress since most tuxedos we're rentals & poorly fit.

Well 20 years ago guys though white tuxedos looked great. Trendy is fine for the now.

I’d rather buy a suit he can wear more than once, but navy or gray is more practical.
