Is it worthwhile to move to Walt Whitman district?

Do people really move there for the high school, and do you think it is worth it? I live in Chevy Chase, and our high school would be Bethesda-Chevy Chase (in a few years). Thanks.

I wouldn't from your standpoint - BCC is a great school - and if Whitman is better (which I think is disputable), it is only marginally so. Plus BCC has a bit more diversity going for it, which is a plus in my book.

People do move to the Whitman district but usually from places other than the BCC district. BCC and Whitman have some differences but a lot of people prefer BCC for the IB program, diversity, etc. We are in the Whitman district and will have a child there next year. So far I am impressed with our interactions with the school (haven't been in MCPS before).

Funny, I am in the Whitman district, and I would prefer to be in BCC for the IB program and a bit more diversity (so much so that we're considering moving). Want to house swap?
