DCUM foodies, what are the most overrated and underrated restaurants in the DMV?

Anonymous
Overrated:
RPM Italian
Bullfrog bagels
Founding Farmers
Ted's Bulletin
Belga Cafe

Underrated:
Buffalo and Bergen (better than Bullfrog, I'm slowly convincing my DH of this)
Little Pearl (but PLEASE bring back the weekend coffee/cafe, I almost cry whenever I'm near it on a weekend)
Osteria Morini

I've never had a bad experience at Rose's Luxury, dined there multiple times.
Dined at Inn at Little Washington and had a fantastic experience.

+1 FF is not good

They are bad.

+2 FF is so mediocre and yet people recommend it. Can’t understand it.

Call your mothet — overrated

Bullfrog bagels - underrated

+1 to call your mother. Their bagels aren’t good at all. Much prefer Bethesda bagel or Georgetown bagel.

+1 agree completely

+1

Went once and couldn’t figure out why it was so highly rated.

I thought L'Ardente was very good. Not cutting edge in any way, but a really nice meal.

Paddy O's is delicious too.

Anonymous wrote:The Dabney is completely overrated. And their whole thing that the can not accommodate ANY dietary restrictions is obnoxious. It’s 2023 and you can not make one thing without meat? Fish without ham? Come on.

I did not think that their food was outstanding at all.

Underrated: Maiz64 in Logan. Really good food and a fun place.

I have been to all the best in the world, some many times, and Inn at Little Washington has never been topped. A true national treasure.

Overrated-The Italian Store

It took me 35 years to realize that I can cook better tasting and healthier foods at home.

Home0cooked meals are great, but I don’t WANT to cook every night of the week — I want a break!

I will join you all in fine dining once I get my income back up, but thanks for the suggestions and warnings!!

I'll join in carryout once I get my credit card debt back down, but I just finished my serving bowl of Taylor's kale salad kit.

Cane's family meal takeout was well done & good value, and we added a couple of their other dishes to it, which were also delicious. Copycat Co's takeout is also delicious & good value; cocktails aren't great value per se, but are exceptionally well done/they will make something to suit any preferences/requests. I'm sure you've had Toki, but they package it really well for takeout (slightly undercook the ramen, package the broth separately for reheating), so that it's virtually the same as eating in. Also, a bit further afield (but they do deliver), Panda Express on NY Ave is really great, classic Chinese takeout if you've never done it. (The restaurant was originally opened to serve the Chinese workers staying in the long-term residence motel to build the Chinese Embassy.) All the takeout we've had from The Roost has been good; the new pizza place is great NY style pizza which the Hill was sorely lacking.

Albi's takeout is superb, but it is expensive.

PP means Panda Gourmet. I didn't know about the history there!
