not remotely surprising, and shame we have to see that screen shot over and over. you killed the thread - well done.

“I got hacked” is what everyone says when something unflattering like this pops up and there is an unexpected backlash. Doesn’t mean it’s true

Does GoodReads update automatically somehow? Or do you have to update what you're reading?

I assumed it knows if you're reading something on your Kindle but otherwise you have to tell it. Is that not right?

Look how they blamed Jennifer Aniston for Brad leaving.

And, the MEN always get a pass.

It sounds like he cheated on her and had a drug problem. No matter what her personality is like, it is always wrong for a married partner to cheat.

And open marriages?? WTF? Somebody will always fall in love eventually with whomever they begin to screw. It's the riskiest arrangement ever for a married couple that wants to protect their marriage.

You can’t cheat in an open marriage.

That's a silly statement. Pretty sure most open marriages have rules that couples stick by and aren't just a free-for-all in terms of getting involved/sleeping with others.

Good luck enforcing rules when you've already said you’re ok with your husband banging other people. Rule #1 of marriage has already been broken.

Im not poly, but I don’t think that’s how it works. Some couples manage to do this in a healthy way. It takes a ton of communication, emotional honesty, self awareness, self assessment, and vulnerability. Most of us aren’t equipped to do this well or put in the work. It’s something that’s easier to think about (and judge), than practice.

Not poly either, but I have a good friend who has been married for about 15 years and she and her husband have opened up the marriage a few times. They always had iron-clad rules about who and how and where they saw other people. If one person was on a dating site, they disclosed they were married and already had a primary partner. If sex with others was going to happen, it was not spontaneous and was disclosed. If one person became uncomfortable, the secondary relationship was discontinued and/or the marriage closed back up. They are still happily married (marriage currently closed).

That sounds sick. Two twisted, self-involved, highly controlling assholes. Yuck.

I guess I fail to see what's twisted or sick about being poly. Consenting adults and all that.

In this case, I think he got drunk and uploaded it then regretted it in the morning. To the best of my knowledge, there was no backlash, just a lot of "well played."

If Goodreads is logged in to your Kindle, every time you open a book, the description pops up and on that page near the top is an option to attach to your Goodreads profile. You can toggle the book add off when that page pops up.

May I ask why? Do you know them? If there marriage isn't working it makes sense to separate no? What do you care?

Uh. Because they were happy, and now they’re unhappy? A divorce may be the right thing, but the death of a marriage is sad. I think they’re both quite talented, and want them to be happy.

And if you don’t care at all about people you don’t know, why are you on a thread talking about people you don’t know?

You’re a junior high level drama ham. Get a grip, Jesus.

And now this...

I just... They both just really want people to pay attention to them, don’t they?

Lame. They are both so incredibly narcissistic.

But the subtext is pretty much "married for now".

"Amanda and my problems got rather more public than either of us is comfortable with"

Either of you?

They're not divorcing, apparently.

I've seen some comments about how he's taken control of the narrative because she started to spiral out of control, publicly, and he wanted to shut her up.

I mean, it could just be as simple as a rough patch and no divorce?

Not trying to sound dumb, but what do you mean by that? That they'll divorce, eventually?

Thank you for this! I love his voice and borrowed Graveyard Book with him reading audio from library a while ago. Glad to have this online access. Such an amazing book.

Yes- thank you! Just sent to my daughter. She loves the books and movies. Hearing him read, though, how cool!

I can see how you might not read the whole thread, but could you not even see that someone posted this two weeks ago, right after it went up on Gaiman's blog? It's a couple of posts before yours.

Genuinely didn't see the other posts until a while after I posted. Guess I shouldn't post when trying to do several things at once. My apologies
