Actually, it is. Livability is important to those of us who live here, and we define it different ways. I've had friends in tears crying after their umpteenth ticket. The city council wants everyone peddling bikes, walking or riding transport and often purposefully limits parking on new construction. At the same time, they seem oblivious to metro woes. Yes - for those of us who live here parking is a quality of life issue. I'm personally glad that on my block (I dont drive) my neighbors dont have to circle the block 50 times as we are a rare street with parking. Yes, the Council should be working on bread and butter issues for us. Not just on trendy issues that basically put all D.C. residents on the tip of the spear of national liberal pet projects.

I turned a job down because it did not come with parking. I will not rely on Metro, and I am not riding my bike in the cold.

You people need to live in the exurbs, where parking is free and plentiful, or for Congress. Pay for a private space or park legally. Consider a car sharing service if that's too much for those with an absurd sense of entitlement.

Why in the world would I do that. I have a company paid parking space at my office in DC and two parking spaces at my home in DC, why in the world would I give that up? Are you in insane.

True. Best bet is to vote straight Republican or libertarian then. They will probably be far more moderate (the Republicans at least) than most of the far left leftists. Any suggestions on how to support /promote more center government in DC? It seems like the loudest left voices rule the coop year after year ...after year. I miss Tony Williams whom I always considered a secret Republican. Where are the sensible people? Any up and coming to watch?

I live here and I'm happy our property value has skyrocketed...and gee..since its a major investment for us I'd also like it not to fall through poor governance. Yes, those property values rose because after a long time people perceived dc as "livable" again, and was through courting business (Tony Williams), revving up neighborhood life (Tony Williams) parks and recreation (Fenty) schools (Williams , fenty, charter movement, momentum). Not through all the recent fairly worthless and even harmful to DC residents legislation this Council has passed, OR the issues they've ignored in so doing.
