We haven't yet - placing house on market mid-August. We really like the Annandale area and keeping an eye out for houses assigned to Camelot and Mason Crest. The issue is we want to stay as close to Arlington as possible but its challenging to find high performing schools that have at least 7% AA.

Your thoughts?

I say focus more on the high school being high performing and for elementary school as long as it is not low performing and has at least 7% you should be fine (in my opinion)

Nearly all schools in Fairfax are mediocre-plus and have a decent amount of diversity.

Can you provide more info on Kings Park - I've seen a few houses on the market over there? What are some of things that you really like /dislike about the school. Thanks!

I was the poster that said I liked Kings Park (on Page 1). What I liked is that there was sufficient across the board diversity in terms of different races, the school was small and only goes to 3rd grade, I liked the idea of the younger students being seperated from the older ones, the sense of community when I went to the kindergarten orientation, the school has made good strides in terms of performance (seemed that it use to struggle a bit), there seemed to be some economic diversity as well but no large pockets of poverty, I liked that the AA% had increased steadily over the years even though it is below 10%, and the area that zones to KP seemed small to me which lent to the idea of a more small community feel.

You can always ask that your child be in a home room with another AA child, if possible. That doesn’t solve the whole problem, of course.
