Why is Maryland overlooked on this forum?

UMD is in College Park -- not Seat Pleasant. It's really not as bad as people make it out to be.

You have more reported crime on and near the campus (other than Howard University) than other local colleges.



yes, some areas have higher reported crime rates than others. this does not mean they are war zones.

Thousands of people live, work, and study in CP daily without incident.

Having NASA, NOAH,NIH, FDA ,HSA, NIST, national physics institute , the national archives, international foreign language institute , national weather forecasting center installations on campus... Sure beats bojangles !

Do you actually think GMU is even close to UMD in STEM fields? I didn't go to either, but UMD is head and shoulders above GMU for STEM majors, and honestly is probably better than any VA school. I went to UVA for a CS degree, and MD is definitely a better regarded program in my major.


Umd is the highest rated STEM institution south of Boston and north of Atlanta .
