"No kids" restaurant! Would you go?

Anonymous
No. When I was single, I hated kids and families at 'adult' venues (bars, concerts, crack dens). Felt it was a little asinine to subjugate their kids and us adults to each other. That's what IHOPs are for.

Now that I have kids, I try to be conscientious.
Anonymous
I don't understand any outrage over this. There are 10,000 restaurants, and just 1 is banning kids. I seriously hope you breastfeeding-protest people are joking. You're not furthering any sort of cause - you're doing the total opposite.

YEAH, you show 'em! How dare adults want to congregate for a meal without screaming babies and toddlers in attendance! It's an OUTRAGE.

Then stay home and eat in the peace and quiet of your own home! If you cant deal with the public and all that going out in public entails that's your own personal problem.

I hope you people are pro-lifers and against gay marriage. Otherwise, how do you explain your inconsistent position that in some cases, people should not impose their views on you and in other cases, you have the right to impose your views on others?

(I am pro-choice, in favor of gay marriage, a big proponent of breast feeding and think it is great to have a "no kids" restaurant...)

wtf are you talking about. you are the one being inconsistent.

the norm is that kids go to restaurants.

YOU are the one imposing your view and trying to change the rules to "no kids"

If you can't deal with a single restaurant existing that you can't bring your little kid to, you need therapy.

Seriously. If 1 out of thousands and thousands of restaurants chooses to be kid free, and you're angry about it, you're just a petty, spiteful, sad person in need of some mental rewiring.

I am not saying all restaurants should ban kids. I am saying one should be allowed to if it wants. Can you really not tell the difference?

What is wrong with you previous two pp's? Why are you being so judgmental? Talking about ppl needing therapy and ppl being 'sad.' What on earth?

If you want to control your environment then stay home. Its a simple concept.

+1

I was just noticing how those PP's were attacking the previous PP and I was wondering why they became so aggressive and started with the name calling and the personal attacks.

Uh, PP above said that not being able to "deal" with children at a restaurant was a personal problem and other adults should just stay home - I don't see how that's any different than the responding comments. If you think that having a child means the world has to bend to your wishes at all times, and that one single restaurant can't be an adults-only environment, there is something off about you. No one's saying they have a problem with kids being at a grocery store, or a street fair, or a mall. It's one single sushi restaurant. If you seriously can't handle that, you're the one that needs to stay home.

Relax. It's not like anyone creating kid-free cities and states that you're not allowed to go to. IT'S ONE RESTAURANT. All the restaurants of the world do not owe you, or your child, any acknowledgement. You think complaining about one restaurant being kid free isn't judgmental? Can you say that while looking at yourself in the mirror? If YOU want to control your environment, how about YOU stay home? You can have all the meals with your special kids you want - knock yourself out.

It might be time for you to realize that the rest of the world isn't that interested in your kids, and much as you love your kids, might like one - just one - place to eat without your kids. It's not always about you and your kids. I know they're the center of your life, but that doesn't mean they're the center of everyone else's.

Good on this restaurant. I hope others follow suit. There are plenty of family friendly restaurants - a few adult-only establishments are seriously no big deal - and I'm sure they'll be a hit.

Why are you screaming?

Why are you so upset about one kid-free restaurant?

I'm a mom of two, a teen and an elementary aged kid. I breastfeed both my kids until they were 2, cloth diapered my younger son, and co-slept with both until age 1.

I would totally go here, and probably will once I google to find out the name. I think this is a great idea!
