Highly suspicious for BREAST CANCER

I don't really have any advice, just that I'm wishing you the best. Whatever happens, take it one step at a time. Even if it is cancer, think of all of the people you know who have beaten it and are stronger in spite of it. You can do this op. Best of luck to you.

Not sure why you all are bumping a ten year old thread....but OP if you're still out there, please let us know how you are!

Breast cancer is big business in the US. They will never find a "cure". It would put so many doctors out of business.

Do you know why it is called the SCHAR Cancer Center? Because billionaire Dwight Schar gave them 50 million dollars to pay for it. Not to mention that doctors and nurses are in the business of saving lives not charging insurance for false cancer findings. Please do tell me how they fake a lump that shows up on mammograms. Your stupidity is breath taking.

It’s not about faking a lump, it’s about over testing and ordering core biopsies for lumps that have been biopsied before because suddenly it’s a “new lump” despite being in the exact same place and when those come back clear saying well you should still go see our breast surgeon for a surgery to remove it and test it again . Ask me how I know.

Oh, where did you go to med school? Since you know more than doctors about current standards of breast cancer care. My grandmother died of breast cancer, my mom has survived 2 separate occurrences. I think I will stick to following the doctors advice at INOVA and not some conspiracy theorist on DCUM railing about how doctors are ignoring their Hippocratic oath to make money.

I had a follow up visit with great health insurance and my out of pocket is a grand. They're making money. It's not a charity.

No one said it was a charity. But it also isn’t trying to pay off its building by running unnecessary tests. I’m sorry you have lousy insurance.

Well then you can take the conservative approach, and say “well it looks like a cyst, come back in 6 months for follow up”, then when you go back - surprise! you’ve got stage 3 breast cancer in the very same spot! Ask me how I know.
