If you lose weight with GLP-1, what do you tell people?

+1. Especially when they are still eating the same fast food they always ate.

One of the things holding me back from taking the meds, is I really (really) don’t like attention that comes from appearance change. For example, when I get a new haircut and people notice and say something, I get very uncomfortable.

If I lose weight quickly and people say something innocuous like “you look great” or less innocuous like “you look great, how’d you do it?” I am dreading it and don’t know what to say.

Fwiw, I’m an executive at a company so have lots of visibility so I envision this being a constant.

If you are/were in a similar position, with the same disposition, what did you do to cope? Thanks!

I don't discuss my weight with people. Who does this?

At this point, if I see someone overweight, I figure they can’t afford a GLP and that’s why they’re still fat.

It takes special talent to still be this ignorant and stick to it.

No one is eating the same way they did before and losing weight on GLP.

I say --- labs were quite bad -- went on Mounjaro. Better to own it than to pretend otherwise.

+2. That is the entire point of GLPs. You can drop the salads and calorie counting and finally eat what you want, as much as you want. The GLPs will make you feel full sooner so you won’t want to eat the entire gallon of ice cream like you did before.

What is so wrong with saying you take a GLP1 to lose weight? You’re an executive and you are worried about this? Oh please.

This thread makes me wonder why bother even trying to lose weight the natural way. I am lifting, walking, cutting carbs and calories - and it's working! - but apparently once I have lost enough that it's noticeable everyone will assume I used a drug (and I don't care if someone does use medication to lose!). But all of you assuming everyone and their neighbor is on a GLP-1 if you notices that someone loses weight aren't always right - I'm sure there are plenty of people motivated by reunions, parties, family events, etc. that are doing it the old-fashioned way.

Yeah your source is one dumb thread instead of actual science. I stand behind what I said. No one can lose weight by earing the same way they did to get fat.

Who cares what you tell them?? It's not a big deal either way.

Why does this bother you? You are getting healthy and losing weight. The end goal of getting healthier and fitter is what is important. Unless you also feel the need to be recognized as superior to those who use GLP-1, there is not a problem.

You are a complete idiot. There are two types of people on GLP-1. The ones that are doing it the right way - they have real Wegovy or Zepbound, are taking under medical supervision (like a real doctor, not a random nurse practitioner online) and working with a dietician. Then there are the ones who are doing it the wrong way - they're using Ro or some fly by night online company that hires NPs who want to work from home while their children are little or are doing this for some moonlighting money where they don't actually have to think about anything other than where to send the prescription. Those people are the ones who are injecting unregulated compounded meds that are sometimes mixed with weird things like vitamin b or whatever and they are not receiving any medical guidance whatsoever in their 5 minute intro meeting and subsequent refill emails. Those are the ones who are going to gain it all back because they stop taking the injection the instant they hit their goal weight.
