Disgraceful. Kolin Capernick uses is an unpatriotic, and unsportsmanlike former athlete. He is NO role model for administrators, teachers and students. He was so ungrateful to his adoptive parents who gave him love and opportunities. Shame on him. Shame on MPCS. I don’t want my taxpayer dollars supporting Kolin Capernick’s philosophy, or the thoughtless MCPS personnel who brought him to speak. This is scary.

I’m sure it was a sophisticated conversation between Taylor, Moran, McGuire and Hazel where they decided that this would be a positive for the school system. Very limited integrity in that room.

Oh stop. Colin stood up for his believes and his experience, and you don't respect him for doing that. That's your perspective. He was here trying to sell his product to MCPS. I doubt MCPS is buying it, although it appears PGCPS is going to give it a try.

We apparently have to wait until AFTER school starts for the 9/25 BOE meeting to get an update on background checks: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/news/mcps-news/2025/08/mcps-background-screening-process-update/

On Sept. 25, MCPS will present a public update to the Board of Education, and on Sept. 26, MCPS will present an update at a Montgomery County Council on progress made to clear background checks. We welcome this oversight and are committed to open communication so you know exactly where we stand. We will regularly report to you on our progress in this work via messages home and shared with our school leaders.

Why we aren't getting this update BEFORE school starts, I do not know.

He was compensated for travel but didn't charge a speaker's fee.
