Gas blower ban in MoCo

Thing is, we have about a half an acre and don't clean our yard.

Just blow off the driveway and sidewalk. The leaves aren't going to attack you, unless you live in an HOA.

How does your lawn not die?

No Kings!

But Let’s go ahead and ban legally purchased gas blowers because we don’t like the noise.

You keep telling yourself that. Lie to yourself.

I’ve been using my gas powered blower for a few weeks now. No one has turned me in yet.

I think people realize that snitching is NOT anonymous, despite what the county says - and people are not willing to put themselves out there for turning in their neighbors.

If those lawn service employees are here illegally, they SHOULD be arrested and deported.

We have an electric blower for leaves in the fall, the electric ones are significantly quieter, just require recharging the battery.

I have a Stihl electric leaf blower. It’s every bit as loud as a typical gas blower.

It's anonymous in MoCo - I report the blowers and the folks who can't be bothered to shovel the snow off their sidewalks all the time.

I blow off a very small front section where I care about the grass and just leave the leaves on the rest of it. Green stuff grows the next summer even though the leaves were on it and we mow it. It helps not to care so much.

If it’s anonymous how could they ever actually enforce it? Even in a civil matter the moving party needs to provide evidence. Anonymous hearsay isn’t evidence.

I hate what is going on with the federal government right now but the leaf blower ban is right out of Trump’s playbook. Come up with something that probably isn’t enforceable (but might be) to scare people into compliance.

To what benefit? They are working hard and keeping our lawn care costs down? Who will do those jobs?

I would much rather have them in this country than your sorry butt

For the snow/ice left on the sidewalk it's very simple - they send someone in code enforcement out and when they see the snow/ice on the sidewalk, they issue a citation. What more evidence is needed - nobody is going to court over this. For leaf blowers, it's different since the action is ephemeral but a note is left that it's was reported with a reminder of the ordinance and a county number to call to discuss.

The point is, a report can be made anonymously in MoCo.

That’s the same approach Trump takes. I’m also highly skeptical code enforcement is coming out while there’s snow or ice on a sidewalk because it’s hard to get them to come out for life safety violations in apartments on sunny days.
