Moco thoughts

It's true. Even if you didn't make the SR volleyball team/didn't try out you basically already made it.

Don’t make things up, please. We know of SR players that haven’t made a MOCO team, including varsity players. We know SR players that have. It’s not different than other clubs.

The only way an SR player wouldn't be on MoCo is if they said no. Not the other way around. I have DD very close with those on SR VB.

Just like you, we a number of SR students. Apparently we know different players because there are SR students that tried out last year and didn't get an offer. Playing on a SR team coached by a club coach helps but isn't a guarantee. Like most things in life nothing is absolute.

You can request club prep sessions, and a few days before the sessions, they will let you know whether you are accepted.

DD14U is attends the same school where coach Harry works. Some of her friends are on varsity so she sees him sometimes. Would it be a good Idea for her to introduce herself? She thought it'd be good for him to know her and see her as a friendly face.

Is she attending the tryout invite clinics? I don't know if Coach Harry will be there, but that would be a good place to introduce herself.

The MVSA club director mentioned during a clinic that coaches like the players who have the guts to approach her and introduce themselves. She should have a good reason to approach the coach though (maybe she will try out for his team?) and she should not take more than a couple of minutes unless the coach shows interest in a longer conversation.

PP here ---- Coach Harry coaches the 14s. So if DD makes it he will be her coach depending on if he coaches 141s 142s 143s

The heads of MoCo coach both the JV and MS teams at SR.

Coach Harry only coaches 14 1s. If your DD didn't make the JV team at SR, making 14 1s is very unlikely. She could still say hi to Coach Harry, but that's unlikely to help her make the top MOCO 14 team. Coach Harry was very nice, positive, and encouraging when my DD introduced herself, but my DD (with club experience and on her high school JV team) still didn't make MOCO (not even the 3rd team). Expect a very warm, polite exchange, but don't read too much into it.

want to clarify, she didn't try out for JV but was told by coach francis she would've made it of she tried out.

Coach Francis says a lot of stuff. Take most of it with a giant grain of salt.

I see Coach Francis is going to coach MOCO 12-1. Is it good to be on his team?
