It sounds like she went through IVF maybe with Brad and that didn’t work out. I’ll give you that. But beyond that she has tons of options and we all know it.

I’m wealthy enough to have had all the options that Jen had, and I desperately wanted kids and didn’t have them. Sometimes it really doesn’t work out. She’s said that she didn’t want to be a single mother. (FTR, I was fine with being a single mother and it STILL didn’t happen). She tried with Brad and with Justin. It didn’t happen for her.

I’m not saying that Jen is a tragic figure. She seems to be at peace and happy with her life. But I dislike the idea that anyone can be a parent if they’re rich or patient enough.

I don’t think that she tried with Justin. I think that was just a play in the media to keep people talking and speculating. I don’t think either of them want to have kids and it’s just really weird that they’ve both reached their mid 50s and we’re just like, so sad that they haven’t had kids! Is it that hard to admit that maybe some people like doing other things in life besides having kids? I absolutely love being a mom, but it’s not beyond the grasp of possibility to me that other people would not choose this.

She specifically said she went though a lot, tried every tea and treatment but it didn't work out. And that all the speculation and scrutiny was especially hard in this context. I don't think she was lying. And Justin jumped right in to support her statement. I think it's true she didn't want to be a single mom, like her mom, and it just didn't happen in the context of the stable family unit she wanted.

Right, I think she was talking about a phase in her life. I don’t think that she met that from age 25 through 50 she was constantly trying to have babies. I think she went through a period of infertility where she tried to have kids and then gave up.

You really can’t convince me that she and Justin wanted kids. Nothing about their lifestyle said that. Justin left a 14 year-old relationship with a younger woman to be with Jenn who was older and had a documented history of infertility. They were both really into their dogs and remain that way to this day. I really don’t think they ever intended to have kids. I also don’t think they were ever legally married.

...agreed. They were living bicoastal too. I took her allure interview as her saying it was a miss opportunity to try when she was younger but it wasn't something she was dwelling on. I hope she finds someone too.

I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling some sadness for Jennifer in this moment either. I've been in her position and it sucks. My daughter overheard her step mom praising how supportive my ex has been to me since i am, in her words, lonely spinster LOL. The support in question? Us catching up every so often. Obviously the celebrity friends are all his, and she swiftly (ha ha) considered them hers too. But either she’s a complete phony or she grew up with money. No 30 year old working actress without any blockbuster parts talks the way she does in this obnoxious piece without having been to the manor born. Mother or paternal grandparents must have real money. Which is definitely something Theroux would like. I wonder if he didn’t invite his father or his father refused to come. I agree there is usually something going on. I’m sure there are exceptions where people truly find someone at different stages in their life, but I do think for the most part, there are just too many trade offs. I don’t think women realize what happens to them in mid 40s. The Nurturing, I want to take care of everyone hormones start to decline and you start to look out more for yourself - at least for me and some of my friends we are finding sex is better than in our 20s because we know what we want and understand ourselves better.

And then she’s going to be with someone approaching 70? I mean it might work out, but I’m just not sure if she’s aware of what’s coming.
