TJ did very well with Ivy acceptances in RD this year.

Here is what the acceptances spreadsheet that the kids are keeping says. Take it with a gain of salt

MIT: 7
Harvard: 9
Caltech: 4
Princeton:2
Yale: 4

The Harvard and MIT numbers seem high

This is probably the strongest class in decades, mostly because of the improved selection process that cracked down on cheating and focused on identifying talent.

I am a different poster. That is not a fake news. That is just an opinion, same with your opinion just on the opposite side.
The thing is, TJ admission has change and there is pros and cons with the change.
If you hope that TJ will back to the old system test admissions I think that is not going to happen, that boat has sailed.
Look into the colleges admissions system now, I started to think that TJ is mirroring them, they are almost all holistic approach. Colleges, are not using a single test to determine the acceptance, and they are not even considering perfect SAT and GPA as the most important factor, they look at so many aspects. They look for well rounded candidates.
Even the TJ essay that people here heavily mocked as “sob story” that was actually used also in colleges admissions process and that is a big factor.

A good mix of Humanities as well as STEM kids going to top colleges instead of pure STEM?

And yet many of those colleges include a standardized test in their holistic approach.

And frankly this year's admissions numbers are underwhelming

That's ok, it'll become the same as other FCPS HS, there's no point for some kids are interested in advanced STEAM, not fair.

Where are you getting the numbers from? The public instagram for college destination has only few entries.

It's weird of mouth mostly. Comparing this year to what we saw last year and the year before.

Athletes, URM, FGLI, and legacies upped the acceptances to top schools. Asian males with strong STEM backgrounds lost out to those with special hooks.

What top schools are you referring to?

The MIT number is actually a bit lower than recent years. It is believable

It’s a Governor’s school for STEM. They shouldn’t be looking holistically, they should be looking for top STEM gifted learners.

One more kid that was previously unknown just announced admission (and intention to enroll) to MIT!

Go Class of 2025! The future is looking bright for TJHSST students.
Anonymous
MIT admissions for the class of 2025 are up to 8 kids. Is this a record for TJ?

Minimal impact for the top 20-30%. Not surprised.
