I am supporting the economy. |
You wear clothes from a school he turned down and that he didn't go to? Nutcase. |
You're supporting China's sweatshops. |
We knew she'd take the bait. |
Y’all are so weird. It’s okay to buy expensive SUV’s that are gas guzzlers. But not okay to spend on some swag. Hmmmm. |
I'm a few years away but could see myself probably getting it and returning it if it doesn't work out.
Bad idea, I know. But I'd do it. |
There is always grad school |
Yes, this. |
Go back and re-read the 6th post on the thread. That poster thinks it is "unkind" to wear the swag of the college you are attending if you wear it before May 1. |
With two kids that's $300 each. That's like a sweatshirt, two t shirts, cute shorts, and maybe a mug. |
Eh, we’re not the superstitious type so that wouldn’t be an issue.
Our DC got a free tee during a pre-application tour from a direct admit program they were only mildly interested in at first. Long story short, it ended up being the #1 choice and, with an early rolling admit + established merit….that shirt has been washed a lot but was never worn to HS since a few of the admins frown on that institution. DC will be a junior there next semester and lovin it. Plenty of kids at their HS, though, wore swag of all kinds - parents’ alum, toured, not applied, ED, admitted, deferred, WL, even denied. Especially boys….if it was clean, it got worn. I’d say go for it OP! Be optimistic and, even if rejected, you can confidently say you thought your DC was good enough to get in! |
Random guy at the gym says to me, “my son goes to that school”. I respond and say, “my DC got rejected by the school but DC is at an ivy instead” it’s all fun. We all proud parents. |
This is what some PPs don't seem to get. Lots of school give out free swag. Of course, they should wear it, otherwise it's a waste. |
For my kids, once they had their acceptance they no longer wore the swag from other schools. |
It isn't divisive; it's simple differences of opinion, fun superstitions and personal rituals, plus a few snowflake school hang-ups. |
