How long do you think he will be able to focus on this? And how long until Trump grows annoyed with him?

Don't governerment officials have to pass a background check and drug screning?

They also need to do financial disclosures and to divest any investments that might pose a conflict of interest. I was asked to sell all of my Microsoft and Amazon stock when I was in federal IT. How can a guy who owns a car company and an aerospace company and an IT company not have a conflict of interest if he's going to be telling regulators of those industries how to be more efficient?

No they don't. That is why it is structured this way. It is just an outside advisory group for Elon and Vivek to play pretend. Trump can take their 'advice' and/or blame them for anything that goes wrong.

Just another example how Kamala was right. Trump is not a serious man.

He’s very serious about making money. I just read an article where the reporter said that in 2015 Trump essentially said “politics is easy, you don’t have the bloodthirsty savages you do in business.” It made me realize that when I said there are too many fragile white-egos at the table salvitating over $$ and power - Trump has made it harder for himself. We’re already seeing the fighting. I expect some epic backstabbing and takedowns. Even this pairing makes one raise an eyeball. Get the popcorn.

Conservatives should support a return to the spoils system. The fed workforce is so far to the left that Trump can cut to the bone without hurting his supporters.

The fed workers were supposed to be neutral, but they couldn't help themselves. I hope they fire 90% of them.

Well he said he was going to fire them in his plan, of course they wouldn’t vote for him. And there are plenty of conservatives in the federal workforce.

This is all bread and circuses for MAGA. It’s unclear where this visceral hatred of Feds comes from, but whatever.

If MAGA thinks they can get trillions of savings from cutting a few million dollar programs, they will find it’s Congress and not the federal workforce that cares. It’s also not going to add up to trillions.

But, hey, knock yourself out, Elon.

Omg is a corgi their mascot? I love it. I would like more federal corgis please.

I thought it was a fox - and perfect Metaphor - the new foxes are now in charge of the federal hen house.

The Elon lover upthread will be in for a big surprise.

Donation data suggest that many agencies, like DOJ, are nearly uniformly on the left. Starting with Obama, federal hiring was quite political, so I don't think there nearly as many conservatives left as you do. It's been nearly 16 years, after all.

There are plenty of normal people working in the federal workforce. I’m fine with some early retirements and cutbacks on certain grants and programs, but let’s not act like we are all deep state operatives. We have the same functional needs as any other organization. Payroll, HR, IT, Cybersecurity. Plenty of regular folks that will be hurt by job loss that don’t have any say in what their agency does or promotes.

Well the federal workforce is by and large more educated than the general public and we know there is a correlation between lack of education and voting R. So this tracks.

DOJ is a bunch of public servant lawyers. The highly educated lean left. There isn’t some conspiracy of only hiring leftists. I didn’t get asked any questions that would remotely suggest it in any of my job interviews.

Hahaha. That is not even close to accurate

I am all for measured and thoughtful changes to government to make it efficient.

I don’t know that creating a redundant organization outside the government is the efficient way to do that, nor do I think a billionaire deciding randomly that 99 agencies is what is best is measured or thoughtful.
