Whatever you think about Kelly or anyone else, it it unprecedented in the history of this country to have so many members of a presidential candidate's former administration come out publicly against a candidate for the US presidency. Democracy doesn’t magically save us. We, the people, create a democracy. Might want to brush up on history to see that democracies have fallen because democratic norms were slowly erased over time.

I might add that Trump has been greenlighted this far. His assaults on women. His asking Russia to spy on his political opponent on live TV. His nepotism. He’s a felon. Doesn’t matter. He enabled J6, doesn’t matter. Courts agree. Why in the world would he think there are limits now? Why wouldn’t he believe he could whatever the hell he wants? He said he could kill someone on 5th Avenue and support wouldn’t wane. Only a person testing the limits would say something like that.

Agreed. I have lived in two democracies that went through a period of military dictatorship (right-wing in these cases) while I was living there, before reverting to democracy. Granted, they weren't as populous or powerful as the US but it is possible for established democracies to flirt with fascism and dictatorship. Not sure why Americans think their democracy is so pure that this will never happen here.
