Why did he even try to compare one concert to another, why even bring Taylor up in the middle of your own concert – but anyway if there’s something that’s been misconstrued….Why hasn’t he spoken out and just be like move on guys nothing here?

Why is TS at the peak of the music world immune from a competitive snipe?
Why?

What? Your take is that its ok for a grown man to spread a false narrative/dig about a fellow artist because the female performer at the peak of the music world?

There is absolutely no competition between Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift. Completely different markets and they both sold out a show on the same night same city. This is not a "competitive snipe".

Yeah it was- he was contrasting his show with the biggest show in the business.

And he didn’t spread a false rumor. Did he tweet this? Include an Easter egg in his song for hit his grohlies to take down TS?

No the press blasted this. He made one comment during his show.

Sorry, should say:
Include an Easter egg in his song for his Grohlies to take down TS?

This. The fact that Grohl mentioned Swift in this way is actually a compliment to her success. This thin-skinned crying foul because he ribbed her a bit instead of sticking to glowing compliments (which not have been consistent with his onstage persona, which is jokey, a bit sardonic, self-deprecating) is tiresome.

Some of you are taking this way more personally than it was meant for some reason. He made a pun. Grow up.

No, she doesn’t lip sync, but she does have a backtrack to support vocals because she’s doing choreography for 3 1/2 hours, singing 45 songs. I mean she’s not a band she’s a singer! To expect that she would be the only voice for that period time is unrealistic. He literally said his is the errors show because it’s live. her show her also live and she has errors in every show – there’s actually a tracker that swifties compiled tracking the errors… It just was such an odd thing for him to comment and compare on. Their shows are so completely different.

Calling his show the errors show because they’re an older rock band would’ve been a funny joke and he could’ve left the rest out of it.

Their shows ARE completely different. He ONLY did it because she is too big to fail at this point. She is the huge corporate singer. The biggest thing out there, she is gobbling up music revenue left and right. If you are The Biggest Fish in the Ocean (and she is!), why does it even matter?

It is arguable if he was correct or not. He doesn’t use any recorded tracks, but she has some in the background.

This. Caring about this at all, much less being defensive, comes off as so weirdly insecure.

Yup. Most people complaining about this have not been to a Foo show. Self-depreciating off-the-cuff jokes and comments are pretty norm for him.

It's just amazing how triggered the TS fans get

Saying that you make mistakes because you do things better (play live) is not exactly self-deprecating. As others have said, she’s defending her band- I don’t know why people think this is a bad thing.

Did he say it was better? Or is that a judgement you are making about the comment? No one said he did things better- except you.

Insinuating an artist isn’t playing live during their tour is typically considered insulting.

Swift is 34. That's middle aged, in my country.

Dave Grohl lived next door to my husband. Went to school together. Dave's a cool guy.

Dude what is your country. Middle aged in America is 50.

But she isn’t completely live either- is that insulting?

You would have to be pretty dense to not read the statement as a veiled insult.

I love Taylor Swift but it’s obvious she lip syncs her stadium shows. At other times she sings over a track. Come on, you don’t need to deny reality.
