If she’s well enough to walk on court and play tennis, she can certainly do a desk job.

There’s also a process to notify authorities of potential fraud.

That is not how disability works. Disability pays you if you can’t do. YOUR job, it doesn’t matter if you could do another job.

No that’s not how it works. It’s typically three years own occupation and after that all occupations. OP says this is since 2020.

This is a great idea. Her complete history of official matches, dates, scores, etc are all listed on that website.

My sister had to jump through hoops and had a home visit and a lot of other things to qualify for SS disability. And she only gets about $1500 a month for him. Barely even covers his food bills.

It is not hard to get disability insurance to pay. And due to coordination of benefits issues along with low rates for SSDI compared to regular social security benefits, it is extremely rare to see people apply for social security while getting disability. There simply is no financial benefit. So your nephew’s experience isnt relevant.

It is if you hire a lawyer who specializes in it to walk you through the process to get the medical documentation and then files the paperwork for you.

I know a family whose adult children (they are well into their 40s) are on disability.

They went to excellent private schools, screwed around in college, dropped out, held low wage jobs periodically, etc. Then the parents figured disability would be steady income, so their “anxiety” was properly documented.

So, yeah…people milk the system.

These are affluent MoCo whites who just don’t want to work.

Other long term disability insurance plans are usually for a limited term, so one can’t live off them forever, especially someone as young as the OP claims her neighbor to be.

This is terrible propaganda and should not be allowed on DCUM.

LTD typically lasts until the insured reaches regular social security retirement benefit age which is currently 67.

Not true, policies vary in lengths, most are much shorter. Also, they only pay 60% of a persons salary, so it’s not like people are getting rich like the OP and so many PPs seem to believe.

+1. And, like OPs neighbor, it mysteriously seems to only afflict UMC white women.

It can be 60% tax free.

The insurance policy is paying her. Why do you care?

Its for actual disabled people. If you can read and discuss a novel and plan elaborate vacations, you can push paper at your desk job.

Someone who can’t do their job is actually disabled - that’s a definition under many disability policies.

If I am a surgeon and I permanently damaged a couple of fingers, I am disabled. Yes, I can push papers and plan vacations- that’s not my occupation for which I bought insurance.

An actuary who used to price disability policies.

His arm doesn’t work so he can’t shoot a gun.

If you look at him he looks fine but he is disabled, he can’t do his job.

But the qualification for SS disability is unable to perform any job.

Your brother can take a desk job.

She might have significant cognitive issues, memory problems, etc. that does not affect tennis.

There are people who will pay 600 intake and 200 dollars for an initial visit all to claim they get anxiety and heart palpitations on the job and suffer from “poor executive functioning”. Once they get the letter , they never return for services .

Yeah, that’s not how it works. One letter will never get approval. Not to mention, they send you to an unbiased doctor. You also have reviews at least once a year.

OP, just MYOB.
