I was fine walking the dog this morning at close to 7 am, but I just took him for his lunch walk during my lunch hour and noticed it was definitely harder to breathe. I'm a fit, thin person without any breathing issues, either. I'll probably skip his long evening walk and just allow him out in the backyard.

I didn't have any issues yesterday. Today is much worse. There's also a bit of a smell today that wasn't present in my area yesterday.

I went out for a walk during lunch, but came back after about 10 minutes. Air quality doesn't usually bother me, but my eyes were turning red, I felt congested, and I started to get a headache. It's bad out there--I don't remember it ever being as bad in 30+ years of living in DC.

Cavalier statements like this aren’t going to age well. In the western states, where fires are more common, schools and sports organizations have policies about rescheduling recess, games, and practices at certain AQI thresholds. I used to live in Hong Kong 20 years ago, same story.

If/when fires start to affect the east coast more, expect your k-12 schools, youth sports organizations, and universities to follow suit.

Um, getting DoorDash doesn’t qualify as hysteria. Did you not buy bulk toilet paper in 2020 or go get bottled water the next time there was a hurricane warning after Ivan? Ordering takeout sushi is a far cry from looting in the streets

I'm the commenter from Utah and this is hilarious to me. I know people who are (former) bull riders, cattle ranchers, hunters, etc. who keep their kids inside when the air quality is bad. Hilarious that these dudes with desk jobs would call those people "wusses."

DP. There is massive problem with environmental inequality, and I don't think privileged people exposing themselves to bad air is the solution. PP does sound a little clueless and I think they should just eat something from the pantry and use their microwave (unless they have health issues) but the idea that door dashers have to be outside so we do too doesn't make any sense.

And for all of a day like you're suddenly going to turn into a wuss in a one day period. People are able to adapt for a day. Sure if it's multiple days we may need to adjust our lifestyle, but people can do something different for a day without changing their persona.
