I’m sorry you are embarrassed to live in an TH. Our TH has 4100 sqft and a big backyard. It has an elevator. Maybe you just bought the wrong TH. |
Yikes What judgey people Everybody does not have to be rich If you win the rat race, you are still a rat in the end So what if you get to be the richest man in the grave yard I loved living in a crappy $300k townhome in an area you all despise And I love my job and am content and do not surround myself with the kind of people who would look down on me because of my lifestyle choices Right now, if I had the money, I would not trade up to a more expensive house, I would just rather invest, fund 529s, buy a yacht and travel A townhome is convenient, lock up and go |
I love my townhouse and living in the city. When I was a kid I always dreamed of having a townhouse (albeit one in Georgetown) rather than a SFH. We've never heard our neighbors, these things come with thick brick walls. |
I live in a 2500 Sq ft house for a family of 4. 4 bedrooms 5 bathrooms. We have a yard, a garage, and plenty of space for “entertaining”.
People here just have unrealistic expectations and want a 6000 sq ft SFH for no reason just to have some guests over 2-3 times a year. If that’s worth it to you, so be it. |
I think there’s a difference between a townhouse in a prime area of DC and a townhouse in a nova suburb. The 2M dc townhouse is very desirable and you’re making a trade off for location. The suburb townhouse is just a lack of funds to afford more land and thereby a SFH. |
If you were in west va, your 1.4 would buy a mansion. In McLean the 1.4 is a step up from a tear down. |
Lots of insecure and stir crazy townhome owners/renters in here. First thing they’d do if they got a windfall of money would be…buy a SFH. Y’all aren’t kidding anyone. And yes, everyone judges you. Because that’s what people do. |
Not everyone wants to be a suburb bumkin |
Oof. LVP and carpeted floors and it's not even that big. Only two bedrooms on the upper level. To each his own I guess? |
My parents rented a duplex. Both parents had a high school education or much less. Dad was a complete idiot and a narcissist who never bothered to save so we lived in a duplex. We only lived in apartments and that duplex. Never liked shared walls and never will. I don't speak to my dad anymore and hopefully I can become rich like y'all who were BLESSED and PRIVILEGED enough to come across the good luck to be able to have a good career and a spouse with a good income to afford a sfh in this costly area. Heck today I had mcdonalds and a meal cost $13. Crazy. |
Noise
Bugs My neighbors had a fire that impacted us |
I guarantee many of these folks townhouse is worth more than your SFH is worth. |
That sounds like a “you” problem. Who the eff spends 13 bucks at McDonald’s? |
This! If we move to townhouse in old town Alexandria it will be more expensive than out sfh. |
Lots of nice sfh wotp, sweetie. But enjoy your shared walls and narrow floor plan. |
