Are you ok with me having a wood or coal stove op? |
We are Indian Americans and cook on gas stoves. We also have a very strong stove hood that vents all the smoke, smell, gas etc while we are cooking.
Because we cook with so many spices in SFHs it is common to have externally vented hoods to prevent strong smells inside the house. |
Of course not. Nothing wrong with electric, which is zero carbon admissions. Why not? |
You people are kooky. And it’s, “emissions” |
Yes, it's called woke people and their causes. And how they've taken over the Democratic party. |
Then there’s this: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/chef-jose-andres-wins-exemption-014056127.html (Bloomberg) -- Celebrity chef Jose Andres was given an exception to use gas appliances in his new Palo Alto restaurant, illustrating the growing push back against gas-stove bans in the US. |
If you are cooking(even with electricity) there still will be emissions from the food. |
I see nothing wrong with this in your own home and not a rental. Since you mention the (hopefully high quality) externally vented hood, it sounds like it's your place and you know what you're about. It's the venting that matters, people. |
Not just the Democratic Party! They’re starting to take over the US. |
So, what you are saying, op, is that for hundreds and thousands of years, people cooked on wood and coal, and our planet was just fine, but now my having a wood-powered/gas stove will kill the planet?
And all those super poor millions in other countries that cook on the wood are killing our planet, but you with your Mansion and huge electrical bill and your Tesla (btw, how was your electric stove and car and house-made, using what kind of tools and power in factories only nuclear-powered generators, or perhaps most still use.... horrors fuel to power them!!!!!!) are saving the planet? And is all of our electricity produced using nuclear generators or are most still using fuel generators to make our electricity???????? (Check the data dear, how much of our electricity is produced using nuclear generators, not that much, maybe 1/5) Of course, that was BCS we had fewer people; you will say, right? So wood fires are bad, but now we have so many people who should cook on an electric stove that uses fuel-powered generators to produce electricity? I dislike stupid people op, and you just wasted my time with your stupidity. I dislike even more stupid people who think they are smart. |
Yep the maga crowd is very woke conservatively. |
Anthropologist here. It's pretty well known that people who have had to cook with gas or coal in enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces DO experience medical issues from air quality. This is akin to "women breastfed their babies for all of human history up to the 1950s, formula is unnecessary" - what do you think happened to babies whose mothers died in childbirth or couldn't produce milk? Just because people had to live with something in the past doesnt mean it's harmless or healthy. Don't really have the bandwidth the argue with the straw man in the rest of the post, yes modern consumer lifestyles are harmful to the planet, just chiming in on that note above. |
I recently bought a new home and am swapping the crappy electric stove for gas ASAP (it’s already roughed for gas). Im worried they’ll start to get harder to find! |
Yay! Anthropologist showed up to tell us how we should be civilized and how to Other peoples that we want resources from and call them savage. Yes, our electric stoves are much superior to wooden stoves, and those savages in 2/3 of the world that can't afford them should just give us their resources and die out while we "the civilized" bombed them to hell. Any anthropologist here should know better and shut up and never tell anyone they studies techniques of Othering and examined how savages and poor live. |
And it's not zero... good luck with that. |
