DP. This is a big reason I don't want to live somewhere like FL or TX, or AZ for that matter. I would enjoy the weather and lifestyle more, but I don't want to live in a place where gun culture is popular/a place that attracts gun-obsessed people because they can have their "freedom" there. |
So you are ok with a teen from Southern FL who was raped by their neighbor having to marshall the money and support to travel to probably Maryland to get an abortion. That's ok with you? |
Why would they need to leave the state of florida? Abortion is legal up to 15 weeks and 6 days in Florida. |
They’re catastrophizing. They don’t get that Desantis is savvy. He loves comparing the Florida law to similar laws across Europe and he wants to be president. Florida won’t go the same route as Texas. |
Florida is no longer the top retirement state. Pennsylvania now has 3 of the top 5 cities to retire to in the US. Florida still gets a lot of migrants and retirees, though, just not as many as it used to.

Well, the alternative Democrat running for Sheriff in my Florida county wanted to defund the police. Not much of a choice if you are pro-law enforcement and have witnessed how the new mental health response force doesn't actually remove problem individuals. I wish there was a middle choice, but out of those two I voted for the Republican sheriff candidate. |
Fine if you're white. I've been all over the country and I have never felt as uncomfortable as I was in rural PA. |
Cuz teens who are raped and teens in general often don’t know what is happening with their bodies or are afraid or ashamed to admit it. Lots of reasons. Would you have a mother of 2 who has a nonviable fetus leave her family to travel to Maryland to have an abortion? You’re not pro life, you are pro you. |
How long should the teen be able to abort the baby? How many months? |
Right. But the number of teens who are raped AND get pregnant AND don’t find out until after 15 weeks AND want to abort is incredibly small. This is why most people are more concerned with the economy. |
This. I'm adamantly pro-choice, but this economy is really harming my family. Worst case scenario, I could pay to take my kid to somewhere for a late-term abortion on the minuscule chance it's ever needed. |
I’ll be happy when Blue States start banning Florida drivers licenses from accessing abortion services once the GOP bans it in Florida. You reap what you sow, folks. |
you know.. I'm an Independent, but I hate this attitude. You rely on other people carrying the tax burdens in blue states but you want to avail yourself of their generous blue state policies because you have the means to go to a blue state if you need to. Thank goodness there are blue states with their high taxes and reasonable abortion laws, right? While you get to enjoy your low tax state. |
anatomy scan isn't until 20w. |
DP here. People will do what's best for their individual circumstances, you included. Were you out there advocating schools to reopen Fall of 2020 to serve children? Or did you just go along with it because you had the resources to take care of your own kids? Did you at least volunteer to personally tutor some special needs or poor kids every day? If not, then you're a hypocrite for criticizing pp. |
