Care of school land?

Anonymous
I recently moved next to a Montgomery County elementary school and I was wondering if anyone knows who I should contact about upkeep of the huge yard of grass? It looks like they haven’t mowed it once this year and is covered with weeds. Obviously I know things are tight in today’s budget situation, but it’s making the school and the neighborhood look shabby. My kids don’t go there yet so I’m in the dark about who to contact. The parks department? The school itself? The school board? Thanks for any ideas!

They have a Facilities department, I would call and ask them to bring the mowers.

I live right by a moco holding school (closed 25 yrs ago, but used to house elem schools undergoing renovations). In the past neighbors have actually gone out and mowed the grounds themselves (around the equipment) so our kids could play there. There is a school there now and they keep the grounds mowed well (but on occasion people have still gone out and done it themselves).
