| Hosting my first seder.. what is the best alternative if I can not get one? |
Roasted red beet we usually do instead. Otherwise I would call a grocery with a kosher butcher (in DC, Moti's, Shalom's) and ask if they have shank bones. You can really do any kosher meat, with/without bone -drumstick, chicken wing, etc.) |
|
My mom always asks at the meat counter at Giant to get one.
I have also used toy Seder plate items. https://www.partycity.com/passover-seder-food-toy-set-10pc-737052.html |
| I've always had luck at the Giant. Just ask for one. Sometimes they even have them out for the taking. |
| Whole Foods has them free - ask at the meat counter. |
| I saw them at Wegmans last week with the other Lamb products. |
|
OP again..Does your grocery store have someone to ask? I guess there are people at the deli. It is not like a see a butcher..
Glad to know about beets. I know where to find that! |
Yes, ask the butcher! |
where does one find the butcher at the grocery store. There are just racks of meat to grab at the stores I go to. |
| We always use a lollipop lamb chop and feed it to the dog after. (Minus the bone of course!) |
At the meat counter, not the deli counter. Where they have ribs, steaks, other cuts of meat in the case. |
That's a rib bone and a damn fine cut of meat to give to a dog |
+1 Oy!! |
|
One year, we didn't have a bone so we literally just wrote "SHANK" on a piece of paper.
Just saying. Do your best, OP. |
I am laughing wondering if I have walked by this meat couter hundreds of times without seeing it. |
