I posted in Religion and didn't get any responses - google isn't much help, so hoping someone sees that has an answer.
We received an invitation for an old friend’s child’s navjote ceremony. We are not familiar with the ceremony, but cannot attend. Is it appropriate to send a gift, and if so, what? |

I'm not Parsi myself (this community calls themselves Parsis in India), but I have some familiarity with them. These would be fine as gift ideas:
- $100 note or check in gift envelope - A set of children's books - a fancy pen If you know the child well, you can get something more fun and informal, like a toy or a video game. |
| oh I just saw that you can't attend. In that case no need to send a gift. Just a card of well wishes. |
| Thank you! |
