| Tums, Pepcid... Both cause major constipation, even taking just once/day, that even my normal laxative doesn't help. Any suggestions? (Working on diet to find my triggers, but not having luck yet.) |

I read somewhere that some stomach aches are actually due to not having enough acid in your stomach. Perhaps when you treat with antacids you are lowering the acid further, causing your stomach to not digest the food properly and that is why you get so constipated. I would suggest a daily probotic, eat smaller meals and avoid taking antacids.
There are also some teas that help calm stomachs. Maybe those are worth a try. |
| Just posted, but you may want to try an anti gas pill like gas X. See if that helps alleviate the symptoms |

Be careful with gas c. Some versions have the ingredients in antacids that cause constipation.
Try Phazyme. It’s simethicone, which is used to help move gas along, but I think it helps with indigestion if taken after eating. It’s the same ingredient in the stuff given to infants. The phazyme brand doesn’t have the ingredient in gas x and antacids that causes constipation. I believe it’s the calcium in antacids that causes the constipation. I’m not a medical professional, so this is all just opinion. |
| Thank you for the replies. I think I'll give Phazyme a try. |
