I’m trying to eat less meat and so am adding more legumes. I love hummus, all flavors, but unfortunately it makes me super gassy and the farts are bad enough to kill someone. I already eat a plant-based diet and take a probiotic… is there anything I can do to help me digest hummus better? I think it’s all legumes, for example split pea soup and lentils as well, although I don’t eat these as often as hummus, it’s such an easy snack. Help!

Fart on sister
Beano?
Try fermented foods like kimchi to cultivate good gut bacteria.
Could you be allergic to sesame? Maybe try making your own hummus and eliminate or reduce some of the ingredients to see what’s causing it.
Worth it.
Initially read “hummus” in the title as “humans” !
I follow the low fodmap diet because of excess gas with many foods. With hummus you’ll have to make it yourself without garlic. And limit your portion - you’ll be fine.
That's part of the fun! Toot toot toot
Try sprouted hummus. Makes me less gassy. Mom's sells a brand.
Girl, same.
I keep reading this thread title as “I love humans…”
OP - as I said, I already follow a plant based diet and take a good quality probiotic… plus I’m Korean so kimchi is a stable. |

Try making hummus with cannellini beans instead of chickpeas. Similiar enough (a bit creamier and milder). Might do the trick.
