GPA in StudentVue

Anonymous
Where do you find the cumulative GPA (weighted/unweighted) for high school students on ParentVue or StudentVue? My son is in 9th grade and can't find it. He noticed that his Naviance account now includes his GPA but it is higher than his manual calculation. I checked his math and he is correct. I think the Naviance GPA includes MS grades. I told him to ask his counselor but DCUM may be faster in getting an answer.

It has been reported here on DCUM that the GPA computation is going to include whatever MS grades lead to the highest GPA for the student

For high schoolers, they should be sending home a Student Grades and Graduation Credit Report twice a year. It will have the cumulative GPA and list all the courses and grades with high school credit.

That's interesting. We were always told MS students could choose whether or not the grades are included in the HS GPA, and for the first HS-level classes my current 9th grader took in 7th, we were sent an email after the school year was over with a link to specify what they wanted to do with the grades. After 8th grade, which was all virtual, they didn't send one. I sort of assumed the oversight was part of the general chaos of the year, and she could talk to the counselor eventually to straighten it out, if needed.

But if it's true, this actually makes a lot more sense than asking them, because nobody's going to knowingly choose the option that lowers their GPA, right? So why bother with the whole option thing when it can be automated in the student's favor.

It’s a recent change. Voted in fall, implemented with this semester transcript generation.
