We're in the market for a new outdoor dining table and chairs that are durable. Looking for suggestions on stores in the DC area, online retailers, or particular brands that you like. |
I looked online for hours last summer and we settled on Costco. I’m really pleased with our purchase. |
Polywood.
Costco |
These seem to fall into two categories -- super expensive (four figures), or not super expensive.
We ended up with an Ikea table and chairs -- one of the more expensive Ikea ones -- and it's lasted for over 10 years, and is pretty comfortable. It gets the job done. I think Costco is good if you want one of the fancy expensive, ones, though. We decided to get a fancy outdoor lounge set (like a couch/loveseat) from Costco, and keep the cheaper table, as we don't use the table as much and usually only for shorter periods, whereas the lounge set we will sit outside with a book or laptop/coffee for hours. |
Great ideas. Thank you! |
Walmart Better Homes and Gardens line is surprisingly nice, especially for the price. |
I bought a new teak set last year and ended up with Kingsley Bate.
I have a Brown Jordan set here that has lasted more than 20 years. I haven’t had good experiences with the less expensive sets - seems like they need to be replaced in 3-4 years. |
Agree. I made the mistake of buying a less expensive wood set (not teak) and it didn’t last long at all. Now I’m in the market for a new set and still don’t want to spend a lot so I’m looking at metal or ikea. |
In our climate I think the metal with mesh is great. Teak is nice but if it has just rained it will still be wet. Metal is the easiest to clean and dry and the mesh (idk what it is made of I guess plastic) is comfortable.
Like this one, Brown Jordan “sling” |
OP here, love the look of that Brown Jordan set. Thank you! |
The Kingsley bate St Tropez line has similar chairs with a wood frame. We have them and love them. |
Another person who has been very happy with Brown and Jordan sling. After 20 years (mostly leaving them out all winter) I had to get new fabric but now they look almost as good as new. |
