River Falls, Potomac

DW and I have this on our short list of homes. Are there any RF residents that want to chime in on their experiences?

Anything that you feel a prospective owner should know? Any negatives? To us, it seems like a wonderful neighborhood, great for kids, with good sized lots and ample room in most homes.

Do most kids go to public or private? Does that cause any issues with playing around the neighborhood. We have a 4 yo and 2 yo and undecided on private vs public.

Really, really lovely. Gosnell homes are gorgeous and built to last. Public schools are excellent, commute is relatively easy.

The only reason we moved is the airplane noise.

It's a very nice neighborhood. While most still go to public, it seems like a larger number have moved to private in the last few years. Even those in private go to the pool, play tennis, and play with the public school kids. There are usually lots of community activities, but those have been more limited in the winter months during Covid. I do not find the airplane noise bothersome, and certainly do not notice it most of the time while I am inside the house.

i grew up there and it was great. today it is a place where everyone tries to one up the next person like most places.

the kids don't take advantage of the area around them anymore due to video games and all that.

even dating way back there has always been an active swingers group out there.

LOL

Swingers aside, I feel like that trend (the one upping or kids playing video games) is not particularly unique to RF but most places in the DC area, or any affluent area for that matter. Nonetheless, good to know!

Don’t sleep on your stomach with the window open.

Well played!

Nice neighborhood. Downsides are that it’s very isolated and the airplane noise is a blight.

Look for upside down pineapples.

The community pool/tennis center is a fantastic bonus in the summer, and lots of families hang out there, do swim team, etc.

My friend’s house was on the vulture migration route. She had tons of vultures roosting on her house every year. There was lots of vulture doo to clean up.

They were more hangers on.

River falls has changed in many ways. We have seen major race based incidents. Yesterday someone reported stealing of BLM and Fauci sign/flag. Last year someone called cops on a non-white senior who was in a playgroud, cops came and said nothing was wrong. Our kids are repeatedly left out of class/school events-largely based on race.
