New screened in porch people, where are you purchasing furniture?

Anonymous
We have joined the crowd! And, DH wants to be able to see/touch/feel/sit on furniture before purchasing (so cannot order from just seeing online). And, I don't want to spend a year of our kids college tuition on outdoor furnitire.

We seem to know more about what we do not want than what we want: no wicker, no ratan, no teak (DH says it is not sustainable)

For dining room table: rectangle, seats 6-8 (could be with a leaf), no glass top, no tile top, no slats

For lounge area: sofa or sectional plus chairs. DH wants to be able to lie down and nap on sofa or sectional (is over 6" tall). I want to be able to curl up and read a book, and, socialize with girlfriends and other couples.

Did I mention we have completely different tastes/styles: he likes modern, I like traditional.

Starting our search now, because even though they won't start building for months, it will take us that long to agree on something, not to mention whatever supply chain issues there are!

We purchased our screened in porch outdoor furniture from Room and Board. Love how comfortable it is.

It was not the cheapest - but it does everything I wanted.

Costco should have furniture out by Feb-March. Be ready and pounce.

You could consider Yardbird, but Colby might be your only option. Also Offenbachers, but pretty expensive. Places like West Elm and Bassett have outdoor furniture as well, but they are quite a bit pricier than Yardbird.

We got most stuff from yardbird, so far we like it. They have a couple showrooms in the area.

We went to room and board as well. Ended up with the oasis sectional (a lot of options to fit different spaces) and ottomans and throw pillows. It was pricey but they had great ideas for the rest of the space as well. We also bought a hanging chair from Amazon (a lot cheaper than arhaus) and that has probably been the most popular spot.

Arhaus, Anthropologie, Crate and Barrell, Ballard, World Market

Another new porch person here ... could you link to the hanging chair you bought?

I found the world market outdoor furniture uncomfortable - I could not put my finger on it - but just something was off.

How do you keep porch furniture cleaned? I get so much green pollen during the spring. Wondering if I would need to be cleaning daily/weekly etc
Anonymous
Get metal with thin cushions. Thicker cushions mold.

Things like this:

Look around in the Spring. Go to the furniture showroom location of Crate and Barrel, go to Room and Board, West Elm, and go to Target during the week or so they have floor models of outdoor furniture out. Also, if you time it right you can get porch furniture at Costco.

Focus on durability.

You can do a lot better than the mass retailers listed above.

I’d look into an American made brand like Woodard. The quality is much better and design too. Also a 10+ year warranty. Look on woodard’s website and then for retailers that sell. Their Instagram page may be helpful too. Any online store will be able to send you swatches of the fabrics and metals.
