Kim Crawford sauv blanc - thumbs down

I know lots of influencers tout this wine, but more importantly to me my trusted wine guy recommended it so I bought a couple of bottles to serve with Christmas dinner. Not a fan- way too sweet.

Interesting. Sweet is the last thing I describe their Sauv Blanc as. It’s incredibly acid, vert tart.

I like the mineral taste of the NZ Sauvignon Blancs better than the bland California varieties. Kim Crawford is an average wine, but I don’t consider it sweet.

It’s not sweet at all, it’s grapefruity and delicious!! But wine is very personal so sorry you didn’t enjoy it, hope you find something better suited to your preferences.

This is OP - that is interesting bc Cloudy Bay and Oyster Bay are my go-to sauvignon blancs. I wanted something a bit less expensive since I was buying a lot
of wines and liquor for the day/dinner 😊.

Lessons to heed: don’t buy wine or join country clubs that advertise on tv.

It is very interesting how the same wine can taste so different to different people. The very last word I would use to describe this wine is “sweet.” I find it to be very acidic, and almost soap-like in its harshness. But I know a lot of people who love it.

I would never buy several bottles of wine to serve at a holiday meal without tasting it. Hopefully next time you’ll be able to try something first.

A friend brought that over and I will usually drink pretty much anything, but I couldn't stand it.

Had half the bottle in my fridge for a week thinking I could use it to cook with. Ended up tossing it.

Next time, hunt down some To Kalon I Block Fume Blanc. I believe it’s the oldest Sauvignon Blanc planting in the US. It’s spectacular.

This is OP. I love to experiment with wines and often go with a new rec for dinner parties. It does fail sometimes 😄.

PP. Those are excellent go-to choices.

I like Kim Crawford but I prefer Duckhorn or Middle Earth.

I like Oyster Bay. Costco carries it for under $10.

Kim Crawford was an interesting choice given how cheap Oyster Bay is. And it at least $3 less per bottle than Kim Crawford.

Are you punking us OP? 😬
