How are the first grade teachers at WoodAcres - hearing some mixed things and want to verify

Grateful for any experience and observations you can share. Many thanks!

What have you heard?

they are flawed but not terrible. one in particular is very weird and strict, but she is also liked by the students and cares about them very much. certainly no worse than the kindergarten teachers, though!

4 kids here (not at Wood Acres for what it's worth) but I have to weigh in and say not to let others opinions completely sway you. Some people just mesh well and you'd never expect it. One of my children had his school's "worst" teacher by reputation 2 years ago but I have to say it was his best year yet. She understood him in a way no one else has and he worked harder for her because of it. His best friend hated her. This year he has the awesome teacher everyone raves about but I don't get the excitement. She's okay but not the demi-god I was expecting.

Not to mention the teachers could all change by next year.

We are contemplating sending our DS to Wood Acres next year, but I just can't get over having him have 25-26 kids in the class (what the principal told us.) Please tell me it's not that bad!

25-26 would be nice. There have been 28-29 in the past!

wow - with 1 teacher or do they have aides?

1 teacher. There are very few aides - they are only for special ed. kids. The class size "limits" are really just guidelines. They can have almost any number since it isn't a title 1 school.
