Makeup kit for 13yo daughter

Anonymous
My daughter isn’t much into appearances but she likes to wear lip gloss or a bit of eyeliner for special occasions. I’d like to help her try out some more options, but I personally don’t wear makeup either and don’t know my way around. What kind of a high quality but small kit can I get her, with eyeshadow, blush etc?

I would go with Glossier. They do a good job with the natural look. They don’t have many kits, but there is one that includes cloud paint (blush, can also be used on lips), lash slick (non dramatic mascara) and boy brow (eyebrow mascara- eyebrows are a focal area for makeup these days). I would also throw in Sky Wash, which is a great, sheer eyeshadow and maybe a tinted lip gloss.

I got this for my kid. No eyeliner and it’s a bit pricey but she loved it. (I didn’t hide it well and she found it)

Thanks! I'm old, I'm not familiar with Glossier. What is the Gen X equivalent brand?

Clinique, maybe.

This is good. But honestly, if she isn’t really into wearing makeup, why push her to wear more? Seems like it sends the wrong message. Not wearing makeup is a good thing.

I like Almay for acne prone adolescent skin. It's also reasonably priced and easy to find in lots of places.

Yeah I hear you, and I generally don't push her into these directions. But I also want to give her options, just because I'm a non-make-up-wearing, non-conforming feminist doesn't mean I shouldn't show her other paths too.

There is much more overlap between skincare and makeup now than there used to be. I would be fine with my young teenage daughter wearing a serum with a slight tint or hydrating lip gloss with just a touch of color. Heck, maybe she’d start taking more of an interest in taking care of her skin if the products are more “fun.”

My daughter is 13 and requested a bunch of Sephora and glossier products for Christmas. She is all about lashes as are most of her peers. Here’s what she wants.

https://www.glossier.com/products/haloscope

She also love this mascara that I now use to because it’s so awesome

L'Oreal Paris Makeup Telescopic Original Lengthening Mascara, Blackest Black, 0.27 Fl Oz (1 Count) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004BD107O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_P8WATVW6KD10N1VE53NB

She also wanted a $60 eyelash serum and I just laughed.

Also buy her Garnier micellular water and cotton balls to remove all the make up.

A makeup bag would be a good gift too. Or gift cards to Sephora and glossier.

Pp here. Dd sometimes just wears mascara and nothing else as makeup.

Also make sure she has good face cleaning products like Cerave face wash.

She also uses one of these every night. Machine washable.
