My DD will start kindergarten in 2011. Our local elementary school is being shut down for renovations and the children will be sent to a school about a 20 minute bus ride from the house. Has anyone had any luck appealing the school board? I would like for her to go to the elementary school that is near her preschool (walking distance to my office), that way she can continue to go to the after care program. |
The County is really clamping down on the appeals and they will say to you that your excuse is nto a hardship. Some lie about it but as parents we know that is wrong but some still do and create a hardship excuse. The deadline to submit has passed and more often they say that the holding school technically is stil the same campus as your local school.
good luck though |
read the appeals before you frame your argument -- many many people in your situation are rejected in your situation |
Do they look at the race of the child. In other words, if your child helps whatever school with diversity they tend to go along? |
No. It would be illegal in MoCo to do this. Race is not a consideration in transfers. |
They do consider race...they may not say it however, they were sued and lost a while back when considering race for a transfer. |
I know families who got a transfer this current year for after-care reasons. In fact, our school is one of the most overcrowded schools in the county and they still were able to secure the transfer. |
After care is a hardship. |
