attic mice infestation

Anonymous
Just found out that we have mice in our attic burrowing in insulation and leaving droppings. there are holes in our attic where they have entered. had one company out who said they need to set bait, disinfect the attic and replace the insulation with one that it "rodent resistant." Anybody dealt with this and have a company to recommend? Looking for second opinion before spending money on such a big job.

What did you end up doing? We just had a company come out after seeing droppings under eh kitchen sink. Like you we were told we needed to do a whole attic clean out and replace insulation. Pest Now was the company

Just put poison up there. They’ll leave.

All attics have holes. They need to vent.

Cover the vent holes with hardware wire. Get a cat.

Who would I hire to go around the house, find openings mice could enter, and patch them up?

https://www.adcockstrapping.com - we used them for bats and mice.

I used a company called TrapPro to get the squirrels out of my attic. They sealed up all the holes and then temporarily installed a one-way door so any stragglers could get out but not come back in. They recommended fresh insulation but, honestly, I never bothered. They did a great job eliminating the pests, though. (The first night I could hear a very upset critter running around, but never had a problem after that. Two weeks later, they removed the one-way trap and sealed it up.)

This. Hardware cloth.
Forget bout the disease carrying cats. You do not want toxoplasmosis worms in your brain.

Brody Brothers. They are good people - and very good at their job.

Get a second opinion before proceeding. I actually had Orkin tell me we had a mouse infestation when I called them for a termite inspection. They showed pictures of an attic, but it wasn’t mine. We called PestNow for a second opinion and they saw no evidence. It’s been a year+ and (knock on wood) we haven’t seen anything.

That's a common scam at car dealerships and mechanics when it comes to the "cabin air filter". They always keep one handy that's dirty AF to show gullible customers, then sell them a Chinese knockoff filter for $60+.
