We're moving to the area from out of state and will likely rent in Arlington. We have an elementary aged child and I'm trying to learn about the local elementary schools. We're looking to live by the Rosslyn, Court House, Clarendon or Ballston metro stops. If you live in the area, can you please weigh in on the public schools your child(ren) attend.
I've heard that Arlington Science Focus is a good elementary school but I'm not sure if it's a zoned school or lottery based. If anyone can weigh in on that too. Thank you! |
It’s a zoned school. |
Every single on of the areas that you mention have equally good public elementary schools. You're lucky. |
Just to start, APS has a good boundary locator tool. |
OP here, thanks, I'll check it out now! |
Asfs is a great school! |

I'm not sure how close you want to live to the metro stops (walking?) but in general those are all good schools. There are actually very few schools that are sub par in Arlington. Innovation (Courthouse) ASF (Ballston/VA Square/Clarendon) Glebe (Ballston) Ashlawn (Ballston) Longbranch (Va Square/Clarendon) Tuckahoe, Cardinal and Nottingham are other options if you're open to the West Falls Church metro. |
Thank you, super helpful! |
+1 |
We live just west of Ballston and kids go to Ashlawn - we love it! |
East Falls Church metro. |
Yes, sorry. Brain blip. |
Opinions vary. |
