reputable car transporter

Could some recommend a car transporter that you used before and were satisfied with? I need to have two vehicles transported from the west coast to the DMV area. Any idea about how much it'll cost? Thanks!

Try calling driveaway companies. That's how I moved my car from coast to coast.

I feel like AAA does this.

Hire two drivers and fly them out there, and cover their trip expenses.

Sounds a lot more complicated than having a contract with an insured moving company.

Cost to freight a vehicle cross country will run about $2,200 and up. And it won’t be to your location. You’ll either have to pick it up at a terminal or meet the driver of the transporter whenever/wherever is most convenient for them. These companies aren’t taking your car and putting it on their carrier and driving it directly too you. They’re waiting until their trailer is full before they leave. Then they’re dropping off and picking up other cars along the way. So it could be up to a couple weeks or more before you get your vehicle.

Compare that to a one way plane ticket, hotels for 4-5 nights, and $600 pay for the driver, and it works out to slightly less. Even at worst. Plus your car gets there faster and comes directly TO you.

I have used intercity with success in the past. You will have lots of options from enclosed to not enclosed.

I used Autobahn USA. Was happy with them. They picked up and dropped off at my home so no need to go to a terminal. To ship 1000 miles in an unenclosed carrier, it was $1200. (This was right before the pandemic started so who knows what they charge now.) other companies had similar quotes but a longer timeline, like it would take 2 weeks to pick up.

I was surprised at how fast it was. I called in the afternoon, and they literally picked it up the next morning and delivered it either the day after or two days later. Just very fast. Must have caught a carrier going out with an empty space or something. Be sure to remove your ez pass, you don’t want to pay all those tolls, lol.

OP here. I got a quote of $2,900 for two vehicles door to door from Montway. All the other car shipping companies quote about the same.
