What jeans and shoes do I need?

Anonymous
I’m 38 and have the stomach of someone who just had their 3rd baby, am 5’3 and generally have more muscular legs (so things like super skinny jeans strangle my calves.

I live in Chicago so need jeans that look ok with flat boots or socks as bare ankles in winter isn’t an option.

So what should I get? I’m ready to burn my whole wardrobe as it’s all either too small or super cheap junky clothes from transitional stages between pregnancies the past 5 years.

I may be making the wrong assumption, but I know I was more Apple-shaped after my kids, so thought this may have some helpful tips for you.

Good luck and even though I know dressing and dealing with a post-baby body is frustrating, you are awesome!

Well done, OP. I'm 5'4" and never did fully get back in shape after kids so I'm 10lb over ideal weight and have always had heavier thighs. Skinny never looked good on me so even through the trend I've always stuck with straight jeans since that's what looks best on me.

I am 49, have six kids (oldest is 29, youngest is 16) and I work out to keep my body looking the way I like it. I am 5'3", 125lbs, solid muscle. I have degenerative joint disease and am in constant pain, but that is no reason to let myself go. I wear what I like, and my style would be considered biker/metal. I wear jeans, Converse, knee-high logger boots, Hanes men's black classic tanks, and leather jackets. I work on cars, climb trees, climb mountains, and I can't live without my coffee. Basically, I'm a dude in a woman's body. I prefer American Eagle jeans because they last for years. I hate spending money on clothes, unless it's leather. I think people should wear what suits them. I shop at thrift shops for everything except for my tank tops. I wear thermal shirts and layer jackets under my leather in winter. I live in southwest Oklahoma, though, so the weather is quite mild here.

These also have a comfortable elastic waist band. https://www.nordstrom.com/s/wit-wisdom-ab-solution-high-waist-itty-bitty-bootcut-jeans-regular-petite-nordstrom-exclusive/5609488?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=420

Are bootcuts back in for middle aged moms? I think I finally acccepted them being out of style about a year ago and got rid of my last pair which likely means they are now back in style

Op I would look for a straight leg, high waist jean with stretch. I have a mom tum and find Madewell Jeans surprisingly flattering. They also show them on a ton of bodies so you can see what would look best on you.

What was the point of your post? To brag and shame those who you assume made excuses or “let themselves go?”

I’m 34, just had my third kid and am also 5’3”. Love a couple hours outside Chicago. We should go shopping together.

I found some pairs of skinny/straight jeans I love at the thrift store last week. Articles of Society brand. They work perfectly for my height and seem well made. True to size. I highly recommend.

I am a similar shape and like dl 1791 straight jeans. I also eBay j crew matchstick jeans (which are discontinues) as they really worked for my body.

+1, although I’d rather let myself go than be in constant pain due to joint disease.
