I just saw that the CDC approved Covid booster shots for pregnant women that received their second vaccine dose at least 6 months ago. I’m 6 months out from my prior shot and due in 5 weeks. I am leaning towards getting a booster to better protect me and the baby but haven’t completely decided. I’m curious, what are others doing? |
I’m definitely doing this. FYI, I’d get it ASAP if you want antibodies for the baby. Some studies have shown it takes up to 14-16 days after the shot for the antibodies to show up for baby, so you’d want to get it aa soon as you can before you deliver. |
Yep, I'm gonna get mine in November, I'm early though, only 13+2 |
I’m only 4 months out but due in 3 weeks. I’m thinking about doing it anyways. 6 months seems arbitrary. |
Yes, I'll be getting mine in November, due in March. Discussed it with my OB today. |
I asked but I'm not far enough out (had second shot in May; due in November). I would if I could. |
I hadn't heard this! Thank you for letting me know; I'll ask my ob for timing recommendations next time I see them. |
I didn’t see this. Do you have a link? I had my second shot six months ago and am due in 6 weeks. My OB was telling me there were currently no recommendations for pregnant women and would love to see if that’s changed. I only saw 65 and older and people who work or live in high risk settings. |
Definitely. Due in mid-December, getting booster in early Nov. Second shot was early May. |

It also shows up on the CVS page if you click on “certain individuals” that are eligible for the booster: https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine The CVS and Walgreens sites don’t allow you to sign up for the booster yet but I am hoping to get mine next week! I’ll be just under 6 months but I figure close enough… |
And people who are at risk for severe covid, which includes pregnant people. |
Thank you! |
If you are four months out, you got vaxxed in your second trimester. So that’s pretty good. Breastfeed and get vaxxed at six months and kid can get some additional protection via breast milk But ask your doctor |
Oh I’m glad to see this. I’m only 7 weeks pregnant. Nearly 6 months out from my second dose. I’m guessing it makes sense to wait until the second or third trimester though? |
Only if you got pFizer …. |
