Basement playroom must haves

Anonymous
I know there’s another thread about designers but I’m just DIYing a basement. So far I have a chalkboard wall, foam floor tiles, low toy storage shelves, and I’m planning on an art, etc table from IKEA.

Is a pickler triangle worth it? Foam shapes? A rope swing from the ceiling? Baby is 1.

We had a large felt world map on the wall, which had a bunch of felt landmarks to attach. My DCs didn't learn anything from it, but loved rearranging the felt pieces.

Hiding space with ventilation. Performing “stage” with curtains.

Here’s what my kids used the most:
- An open area with gymnastics mats for tumbling and wrestling and general physical play. It’s great when it’s raining or super cold out.
- A table for lego building
- comfy seating for reading books or watching a movie
