Growing up I used to love going to Pizza Hut. The pizza was really really really good.

NYC pizza is a pale shadow of Neapolitan pizza. If you haven't been to Napoli, I suggest you visit some time.

+1. NYC is genuinely disgusting.

LOL. Ok, this thread was dead and now back, but I always loved Pizza Hut. It was always a treat when we got to go there as a kid.

During the school year, my sister and I loved the Book It certificates for our free personal pan pizza if we met the monthly reading goals.

I remember too that they offered a "tour" to see the pizza get made and you could even top the pizza that you would get served. Did that with scouts and my little league team.

The red cups, pitchers of soda, pan pizza. Great times!

A kid I went to HS with, his Mom worked at the local pizza hut for almost 40 years. When they finally closed, they recognized her with an award. She was always there when we went!

I grew up in Ohio and, to me, “pizza” is a general category, like “Chinese.” There are different classes of pizza, from mass produced with cheap ingredients to high end places with fresh ingredients, artisanal topping combinations, and authentic crusts, prepared in specialty ovens by highly trained pizza chefs. There are different pizza styles: NY style, Chicago style, Detroit style, etc. There are different pizza fusion dishes: fruit pizza, chocolate pizza, taco pizza, cheeseburger pizza, etc. School cafeteria pizza is pizza and the dish created in Naples, Italy is pizza, but I wouldn’t compare the two.

Pizza Hut used to be the bomb, especially their pan pizza. The crust was a little crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside, covered with a delicious sauce, the right amount of cheese and toppings.

I imagine NYC pizza comes with a side of roaches cooked into the sauce. Yuck. Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

The pan pizza used to be so good but we've given up on it. Either the pizza isn't completely cooked and is doughy or they somehow forget the sauce and it's just bread with cheese.

It was always gross. Maybe a different variation of gross now.

They probably use vegetable shortening now. Lard is better as far as flavor. Google tells me that they use part-skim mozzarella. That's just silly.

Can’t see your pic, but used to be good, now bad. Awful quality, short cuts. Same with other chains.

So the only pizza you will eat is New Haven or something? Didn't bother to offer suggestions, but that's probably because you are a snob

Don't try actual "pizza" in Italy. Tastes like someone's crust leftovers from a month ago, that's been in a dumpster drying out.

It was always gross, even then.

Do their locations still have no organic lettuce and non organic salad bar?

We found that pizza in Italy was better as you get closer to Naples.
