| Homeless guy with mental illness and drug issues is back in Reston from Arlington (after being locked up and released - again) He’s convinced that the people in Great Falls and Reston have stolen millions from him and that he’s been living in a reality show for years. He’s threatened adults, kids to get back of adults, basically anyone in the area. Police have been called numerous times due to threatening behavior. He’s a ticking time bomb for Western FFX County. |
When there’s mental health issues involved, there’s very little that local authorities can do. We have a close family friend whose son has had at least 20 interactions with cops due to his public behavior related to his mental illness. Unless he breaks a specific law, like assault or petty larceny, they don’t take him in or charge him. This is not a Virginia issue. It’s a nationwide issue. |
None of the charges involved theft or assault? |
Unless the intention is to terrorize the public. There is literally no other logical explanation to any of these policies that perpetuate the release of repeat violent criminals back into the streets without any type of follow up, rehabilitation or location tracing of any sort. |
Correct. There are no mental asylums anymore or any institutions for these individuals who do need to be institutionalized if their behavior is threatening even for their own good and safety. You cannot expect all the pedestrians to have to think always from the perspective of empathy when someone is shouting loud threats at them and especially their children. |
i think you missed the point here, the crazy people are already committing violent crimes so don't excuse it, severe consequences immediately |
I agree with you. I am responding to the sentiment about mentally ill who aren't criminals but who may act in threatening enough manner to have people believe they are able to seriously hurt them. |
Juvenile trolling. It's the only explanation. |
What part of weapons charges and drug charges do you not get? |
The point is that many of these mentally ill people have committed felony after felony and Descano doesn’t prosecute or allows a plea deal so ridiculous that the felon is back in the street. Add to that that some of these felons are illegal aliens and now spanberger is refusing to cooperate with ICE which means that these rogue prosecutors will let these people back on the street despite the fact that they should not be here to begin with. |

Yet again folks today: Here is another convicted murderer let go after just 4 months in jail:
A robbery suspect in Fairfax County had charges dropped after only serving just 4 (four) months for the ATM robbery and murder of 73 year-old Nelson Alexander in Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Alexander had been heading to work on the morning of October 20th, 2021 and stopped by an ATM to pick up some cash. He was then approached randomly by the two teen suspects (16 years old at the time) and was shot in the chest. Mr. Alexander died at the hospital three days later. Timothy Bradshaw Robinson was found guilty of robbery in May of 2024 and was sentenced to serve just three and a half years after taking a plea deal. However, Robinson was released in September of 2024, with 16 years and 6 months on his prison term suspended. |
| can a DA or county be sued if they are so negligent in handling cases like this and offender ended up doing something awful? |
