On a thread a few days ago (Political forum, I think) someone was describing a homeless woman in NYC. While the thread wasn't funny, this particular post made me laugh so hard. She described the woman as living in a trash can and popping out like Oscar the Grouch at passerby to scream at them to get away from her home. It was just so unexpectedly funny, I even wake up at night sometimes laughing when I think about it. |
I remember this thread from 5 years ago. Quite witty and clever!

NP This makes me laugh every time |
The Birkenstocks and crocs people are correct. I hate both of them but that’s the situation right now |
I feel like the Cabinets! Wolf thread reads like a Monty Python script in some places. Very Holy Grail-ish. 'I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!' |
I remember that.. she was also in marriage counseling with him to make him believe she was trying to save the marriage, all while she was getting ready to drop the divorce papers. It wasn't "the funniest" comment, but it sure was satisfying. |
I did that. |
My Brit DH who loves Monty Python appreciated your post, and he can recall all the lines to it. |
DP and I love the Dead Parrot sketch. |
The entire movie Velocipastor. |
Larla thread |
My favorite threads are always the holiday threads about ILs and bizarre food habits. There was one a few years ago that involved almonds and I remember laughing out loud but now I can't remember what it was. |
Yes! I like them both. As soon as I saw this thread subject I thought of Linoleum! I can't believe it's been 10 years this year. The word choice was perfection. |
The funniest comments here are standalone funny, they’re situationally funny. A few years ago at Christmas there was the “what’s weird about where you’re staying?” thread and someone said “there’s overhead lights on in every room” which has always made me laugh. Another time, someone posted a truly nonsense question about insurance and the first or second reply was “the who and the what now?” They’re not funny out of context but taken as you’re scrolling an innocuous thread they are. |
aren’t standalone funny* |
