I have an 11 yr old boy. He loves thrill rides. I'm thinking Disneyworld would not suit him. I think he'd like Universal Orlando and Epcot. Anything else? Not the zoo. No one really enjoys the zoo.
I also have a younger DC who probably would love Disney World so maybe 11 yr old DS will have to suck it up and go to DW for a day? We are thinking of going in November, so I'm not sure if the weather is still warm enough to go to the water parks. |
No one's too old for Disney.
|
Yup. |
|
My 10 yo DS loves Epcot -Test Track and Soarin--and reakky wants to spend every day at Epcot!. Your DS might also like Mission Space, also at Epcot. The Coca Cola world there is also cool.
Your younger child can meet alot if the main Disney characters at Epcot, including most of the Princesses. |
|
How old is the younger one? How tall is the older one?
Weather in November varies. Some days, it is warm enough to swim, some days it is not. |
| My 13 year old son still loves to go. |
Agreed! My family has gone every five years since 1985. I was five years old on that first trip, and I loved it just as much at 10, 15, and 35. (Though I might have pretended I wasn't having as much fun in my teens.) |
| You keep saying DisneyWorld, but you seem to mean Magic Kingdom. DisneyWorld is a lot more than just that. |
OP here. yes I mean Magic Kingdom, but from what I've read, I don't think 11 yr old DS would enjoy MK very much. But I'm not sure, hence the post. Yes, Epcot is a definite, as is Universal Orlando. Younger DC is 8. |

I think there are still enough fun rides at MK that he won't be miserable while you go for younger kids benefits.
--Space Mountain --Thunder Mountain --Space Ranger Spin (not a thrill ride, but shooting lasers and getting points seems like it would be in an 11yo's wheelhouse) --Splash Mountain I can also imagine 11yo boys who would enjoy Pirates of the Carribean, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion. |
| Magic Kindom has some great rides and in definitely a key part of the Disney experience. It is sometimes open longer and has a different nighttime show. I definitely think it is teen appropriate. |
| Magic Kingdom is fun. It's huge. No need to do princess anything. Can do Haunted Mansion, Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, etc. Monsters Inc laugh floor, etc. |
|
I normally think that the park hopper is a rip off, but in your situation, you might want to consider it. If he gets bored at MK, can go to Epcot and do some rides there. My kids also really like the Star Tours ride and the Toy Story Mania at HS, but I feel like it's a little hard to fill up a whole day at HS. There's a couple more scary rides at HS that we haven't done (Tower of Terror).
That said, my 10 year old still really likes MK. And she's not a princess fan. DOes he like the old school Disney cartoos with slapstick humor? If so, the 3D Mickey show is good. |

In addition to the various things mentioned above.
When my nieces were teens they also liked Buzz Lightyear (video games). Stich's Great Escape is also more for older kids. When I was a teen, I loved Haunted Mansion (granted, that was back in the dark ages). There are attractions for all different ages at MK. EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are more for older kids, teens, adults, but MK is mixed age and still has attractions for teens. |
| My 11 year old DS would have enjoyed it very much. I liked it very much at age 36. 11 year old is truly just a taller toddler. |
