| I'm delivering at VHC in about a month - is the nursery open yet? |
| Just wanted to chime in that I am also interested in this answer! I am delivering there in August and have been curious, though I appreciate things could easily change between now and August. |
| No it’s still closed unfortantely, as of a few days ago when I delivered. |
| Thanks for the update. That is a shame and I hope it opens soon! |
| Bumping this … the website says you have the option of using the nursery, but I’m unsure whether that is accurate now with Omicron surge. I still have 3 months to go, but am hoping it is reopened now! Any recent experience? |
| I’m here right now and nursery has not been mentioned. Baby has been with me in my room since birth. |
| PP - anything else to note about current VHC policies? Due in a month and curious. I did see they removed sibling visitation from the website. |
| NP- Delivering there soon- LD nurse said no nursery and no sibling/children visitations. |
| Definitely no nursery though my postpartum nurse told me she would do all the screening and bathing in the middle of the night so I could get sleep. She even kept him a little longer for me to sleep. |
Is the sibling thing new? I was looking at their website last week and it said siblings were allowed to visit. |
Yes, just changed. |
My husband was allowed to leave and come back a few times to go home and walk the dog. I also had a baby in May 2020 and last year baby bath and tests were performed in room. This time they took baby to run tests and for bath outside of room. I was told there could be visitors during visiting hours but no minors. I didn’t have visitors anyway. |
| anyone give birth at VHC recently and can update us about the nursery - is it open yet? |
|
I gave birth there a month ago and it still wasn’t open. But the nurse did take my baby middle of the night for tests/bath so I could rest a bit. I ended up going home after 1 night because DH had to stay home with our older child and taking care of a baby from a hospital bed all by yourself sucks.
This is yet another thing taken away “because of COVID” that doesn’t seem to be coming back and I think it’s a shame. They’re also still requiring masks although I was told I could take it off for pushing. Most people were laid back and not enforcing it, but I could tell one nurse wanted me to wear it in the recovery room and it was tiring putting it on each time someone came in to check. Another reason I left a day early. |
Bet the hospital loves the cost savings. I’m furious at how they are still using covid as an excuse to make labor and delivery even more difficult for women. I’m told my child can’t visit the hospital because he’s under 18. I told them I didn’t know that only those under 18 transmit covid. |
