| which one for spring break and why? |
| I’ve been to Siesta and Longboat keys. Wasn’t a fan of Siesta key, very very crowded. Loooooved Longboat key. Close to shopping, gorgeous beaches, close to other areas to explore like Venice beach, and tons of great spacious lodging options. |
| Also plenty of great food options on and near Longboat key. |
| We loved Siesta but didn’t go over spring break |
| Longboat Key is so classy in an Old Florida kind of way. I think you’ll enjoy it OP. There’s an aquarium there and a higher end shopping circle. |
| I have been to Siesta Key the week between Christmas and New Year's, and it's always really crowded - can't imagine the zoo it'd be over SB. |
|
I have gone to Siesta Key for years at SBreak and it is FINE. Everywhere in Florida is crazy and you can't beat Siesta Key.
|
| DP - has anyone been to Sanibel since the hurricane? |
I haven't but from what I've read - its still being rebuilt and will take a lot more time. I think it could still be worth visiting but its not where it used to be at all. For example - the Lighthouse Cafe is still being rebuilt in a new location - not open yet. They tore down Baileys grocery store and no clue if its been rebuilt. |
| I’d pick Anna Maria over all of those, but if I had to choose, I’d select Longboat. We tend to drive a bit locally and I like the options better in the Sarasota area. |
Used to be. Have been going to LBK annually for decades. New hotels and super-luxe condos going up fast. Losing the "Old Florida" feel. Shame. |
Was just at Sanibel. Still kind of a mess Captiva better. Lots of building. I would skip this year but not a complete disaster if you go |
| If you’re going to Florida, go to the ocean. |
| Longboat and Siesta Key aren't far from one another. We do both over Spring Break. I prefer Longboat but there's definitely more action on SK. If you stay in Sarasota, you can easily do both and Anna Maria. |
